Frankfort's Sales Tax 39% lower than Cook County

At the July 9, 2008 meeting of the Frankfort Village Economic Development Committee, members noted that Frankfort's 7% sales tax rate is the lowest in the area. The tax rate at shopping centers in nearby Cook county is 39% higher, at 9.75%.

Over a period of time, simply purchasing $5,000 worth of every day products in Frankfort rather than Cook county shopping centers will save a consumer $137.50.

"As many of our residents know, shopping in Frankfort is a bargain with a sales tax rate of only 7%. I encourage residents and neighbors to take advantage of Frankfort's low sales tax rate, and Shop Frankfort," commented Frankfort Mayor, Jim Holland.
