MembershipMembership in the Youth Commission is open to those interested in promoting positive youth development in the community. The Youth Commission is quite a unique organization: it is a coalition of organizations (businesses, schools, congregations, service organizations, interested community members) committed to betterment of youth and families in Frankfort.
Membership in the Teen Advisory Committee is open to interested students in grades 6-12 who are committed to making a difference and involving themselves in the community.
MeetingsYouth Commission Meetings are held quarterly during the year at Hickory Creek Middle School.
Contact the Youth Commission Office for a current schedule at (815) 469-2177, extension 227. Teen Advisory Committee meetings are held on Thursday evenings at 6:30p.m. in the Teen Room of the Frankfort Park District. These meetings are a great way for kids to meet new faces and develop relationships that will make a difference in the community.
Service ProjectsThe Youth Commission, along with the Teen Advisory Committee, is always planning new ways to help out and become a vital part of the Frankfort Community. Below are just some of the programs that the Youth Commission does to make a difference in our community:
Volunteer Central
This is a service to provide opportunities for residents to offer and/or explore meaningful volunteer experiences. Volunteer Central is a clearinghouse for matching individuals, families and groups with organizations and groups in need of various talents and assistance. Basics of Bicycling
This is a program of safety education that is held at Grand Prairie Elementary School. The Youth Commission in conjunction with the school and Frankfort Police Department promotes bicycle safety and help children learn the basics of safety. Spiritwear ![]() Youth-commission designed shirts and tote bags that promote the Frankfort community. $10 for the shirts, $7 for the totes and $38-$42 for the sweatshirts available for purchase at the Village Administrative office during office hours. |
